Crown & Caliber was founded in 2012 by Hamilton Powell, a watch enthusiast who convinced an investment firm to fund the venture. Initially, the company was a two-person operation but has now grown into a 35-person team. It defines luxury as a watch that costs $1,000 or more. However, the site doesn’t focus on pricey brands and will accept Sinn watches as well.

Crown & Caliber also buys luxury watches that have been previously owned. Some watches cost over $6000, while others are available for as little as $500. In addition to the affordable prices, Crown & Caliber also gives away free shirts from custom haberdasher Knot Standard.
